Grace, the robot-nurse will serve the corona patients
Hanson Robotics, a Hong Kong-based technology company, is going to debut Grace, a robot nurse to the market after Sofia. The company is bringing this robot woman to serve the elderly patients in isolation. Reuters news agency has already released a video of the robot.
In the video, Sophia introduces Grace to everyone by addressing her sister. At first glance, Grace's face bears the imprint of Asians. Although she was called a nurse, she was shown in the video without an apron and a nursing scarf on her head. Grace, wearing a blue-and-white skirt, was seen with brown hair down to her shoulders and a nurse's identity card on her chest.
But here her appearance or dress is not a big issue; The basic feature of Grace is that she can measure the temperature of a patient and can do the needful accordingly.
The robot with a thermal camera on its chest can speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Being empowered by artificial intelligence, Grace can easily talk to people about certain matters. As the thermal camera is fitted, it is not difficult for her to measure the body temperature of the patient. She can also understand the condition of the patient by looking at his face and can imitate gestures as well.
David Hanson, the founder of Hanson Robotics, said the production of such robots would be in full swing in Hong Kong, China, Japan and Korea by next year. For the time being, the cost of each robot will be equivalent to that of a luxury car as a very small number of robots are being manufactured. However, prices will decrease in the future.
However, work on a beta version of Grace will begin in August at Singularity Studios in a joint venture. That's what the company's CEO David Lake conveyed.
